I have always drawn and then the characters in my sketchbook began to break out and take on 3-dimensional form. My sculptures are carved out of stone using a free carving method to give life and vitality. The use of pigments in the stone is a direct influence of working with medieval sculpture. I try to capture moments of stillness and a sense of tranquillity, which is nothing like my personality but I hope the work transcends who I am.

I studied for my first degree in sculpture, which led straight into an apprenticeship as a sculpture conservator at Lincoln Cathedral. Ever since I have combined the two disciplines, but the common theme is stone. I love its variety, colour, texture and how it can be manipulated in so many ways. I am a QEST scholar and a selected member of Society of Designer Craftsmen. My work can be found in private and public collections further details on my website.
