Ruth McCabe: two paintings accepted for RWS Contemporary Watercolour Competition

The ARTWORKS blog is delighted to receive news that one of our artists, Ruth McCabe, has been successful with two paintings accepted for the Royal Watercolour Society’s annual RWS Contemporary Watercolour Competition.

The RWS Contemporary Watercolour Competition is an annual competition open to non-members. It aims to encourage innovation and experimentation in water-based painting including watercolour, acrylic, gouache, pen and ink, and watercolour mixed media.

This prestigious competition provides professional artists with an established and internationally recognised platform on which they can exhibit their work.

The RWS annual open exhibition is at Bankside Gallery, London, from 6th – 18th March 2015.

New art exhibition for ‘Inspired by Becker’ artists

Inspired by Becker artists have been invited to show work at The Leaping Hare, Wyken Hall, during November and December 2014. Wyken Hall is a 1200-acre farm which includes a flock of Shetland sheep, a small herd of Red Poll cattle and a 7-acre vineyard producing award-winning wines, including the English Wine of the Year.

The exhibition at The Leaping Hare, Wyken Hall will run from 4th November to 24th December 2014. The participating artists are : Tricia Davidson, Kerry Holmes, Sandy Horsley, Kim Edwards, Mike Holtom, Jillifar Amor, Ruth McCabe, Sue Eaton, Liz James and Becky Munting.

The exhibition will include between 20 and 30 hung artworks, including a Jason Gathorne Hardy original graphite drawing donated to contribute to one of our fund-raising projects.

The book ‘Blyth Spirit’ will also be on sale, published this summer in support of the Inspired by Becker annual exhibition in Wenhaston, and which includes the entire exhibition portfolio in full colour as well as pages on Harry Becker written by Alan Marshall, the publisher (Mascot Media Ltd).

New exhibition for Alfie Carpenter at Wiveton Hall Cafe, Norfolk

Alfie Carpenter, a new artist to Artworks in 2014, is having a solo exhibition of new paintings at the Wiveton Hall Cafe in north Norfolk. The exhibition opens on Tuesday 28 October 2014 with a special preview from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. The exhibition continues until 14th December 2014.
