Art in Action : Janet French and Emma Buckmaster collaborative Tree Portraits’ etchings project

Artworks artist Janet French and Emma Buckmaster will be at Art in Action 2014 from 17-20th July demonstrating the collaborative project that they have been working on. ‘Tree Portraits’ are a series of etchings of native tree species printed on to paper made from the trees’ own leaves.

The newest addition to the series, Fraxinus Excelsior, an etching of an ash tree printed on to ash leaf paper, was shortlisted for this year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. It will be on display in the ‘Best of the Best’ exhibition at Art in Action.

Over the last 36 years, Art in Action, held at Waterperry Gardens, Oxford, has created a new sort of art show and now attracts around 25,000 visitors. The public comes to Art in Action, not just to see works of art, but to see the art of creating art. Artworks artists Chris Gamble and Kit Price Moss have had work accepted for the Norwich Castle Open art show 2014 ‘Inspired by Birds’. Great news! The exhibition is on now until 31 August 2014.

Chris Gamble’s clever and witty artwork, “Homing In”, is a flying owl made out of ladies nylon stockings. That should ruffle some feathers!

‘Inspired by Birds’, the fourth Norwich Castle Open Art Show, runs in parallel with the ‘The Wonder of Birds’ exhibition at Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery.

The exhibition features a diverse selection of art by East Anglian artists whose work has been inspired by birds. Works in the exhibition were selected from an open submission process by a panel of esteemed judges: artist and author Katrina van Grouw, sculptor Harriet Mead and wildlife photographer David Tipling. All artworks in the exhibition are for sale.

Entry to the two exhibitions is included in Norwich Castle Museum admission: Adults £7.95, Conc. £6.50, Children £5.20. Open Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm, Sundays 1-5pm.

New Exhibition at The ALDEBURGH GALLERY : Carol Pask and Ruth McCabe

Carol Pask and Ruth McCabe have joined forces with a third Suffolk artist, Liz James, to put on a new show of their art at the Aldeburgh Gallery in Suffolk. The exhibition will feature ceramic bird sculptures by Carol and landscape watercolours and paintings by Ruth. The exhibition runs from Thursday 10th July to Wednesday 16th July 2014, open daily 10am – 5pm.
