New exhibition – Alison Jones – Iceni Botanical Artists

Alison Jones, who is also a member of Iceni Botanical Artists (IBA), will be exhibiting original paintings of ‘The Wild Flowers of the Brecklands‘ at The Apex, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, from 4th – 30th April 2017.

Forty five paintings are featured in the IBA exhibition. The original paintings are not for sale, but copies of ‘Breckland Wild Flowers, Heaths and Grasslands‘ are for sale.

Solo Exhibition for Ruth McCabe at Burnham Grapevine Gallery

Burnham Market is home to Burnham Grapevine Contemporary Arts where Ruth McCabe’s solo show opens on Saturday 8th April 2017. Over 30 pieces of her work in oils and watercolour will be on display in the gallery throughout April.

Burnham Grapevine is an independent gallery with a reputation built over the last 15 years both for the range and quality of work shown and for its friendly and approachable character. Situated in one of the oldest buildings int Burnham Market, the gallery is just a five minute stroll from the Green, along either Front Street or North Street towards the eastern end of the village.

Ruth’s work in oils and on canvas are most often a response to the East Suffolk landscape, and are either energetic and textured, or worked into smooth flowing abstract forms.

Her watercolours arise from similar inspiration and are worked in translucent layers of pure watercolour on hand made paper.

With over 30 pieces in the show at Burnham Grapevine Contemporary Arts, there are a range of unusual pieces, coming out of different landscapes such as North Wales, and sometimes, a result of her love of the creatures of the Suffolk landscape.

Ruth has been an exhibitor in the Royal Watercolour Society Contemporary Competitions.
Bankside Gallery, London, and a finalist and exhibitor in Sunday Times Contemporary Watercolour Competition, Mall Galleries, London.

In 2016 she made a brief television appearance as a competitor at Stowe House, in the Sky Arts “Landscape Artist of the Year 2016”.

Artists living and working in East Anglia: apply to exhibit with Artworks

Artists living and working in East Anglia are invited to apply to exhibit with Artworks in 2017.

All types of art are considered, including, painting and drawing (oil, acrylic, watercolour, collage, mixed media), original printmaking (such as etching, lithography, woodcut), sculpture and 3D (including stone, bronze, glass, ceramics, metalwork), photography, animation, video and multi-media installation art. We are looking for professional artists whose work will enhance the high standard of artwork we showcase in our annual exhibition.

To apply, print off and complete an application form on our membership page. Completed forms must be returned by post to the address on the form by Tuesday 31 January 2017.

After you have submitted a completed application, you will be invited to present a portfolio of your work in early February (date to be advised).
