‘Draw bamboos for ten years, become a bamboo then forget all about bamboos when you are drawing‘ – this Zen teaching is my mantra and best expresses both what I have done in the past and what I trying to do now. For years I have had the intense feeling that there is much more inside me that needs to come out. Now, with the freedom to explore new directions, my aim is to develop my work intuitively and to express my creative voice in the language of a fine artist while always referencing my commitment to drawing.

I began my formal art training at Dartington College of Arts, going on to Hornsey Art College to gain a Dip AD in Graphic Design. Over a long career, both within the publishing industry and as a freelance illustrator I produced surface designs and illustrations for tinware, fabric and bespoke stationery. In 2005 my book ‘In a Zen Garden’ was published by Frances Lincoln. Moving from London to Suffolk in 2013 has allowed me to concentrate on personal as well as commercial work.
