Artworks 15th Annual Exhibition

Open daily 10am-5pm

An annual event in East Anglia’s art scene, the artworks exhibition in 2014, our 15th Anniversary, will be open for three weeks from 6th to 28th September 2014.

This is a great opportunity to see new and original contemporary work by some of East Anglia’s established and well-known artists. All the work will be for sale. There will be daily opportunities to meet the artists at the exhibition.

Art for Cure (raising money for Breakthrough, the breast cancer charity) has been chosen as this year’s charity to benefit from the Mini Artworks Prize Draw. Thirty original pieces of art created by artworks artists will be on show during the main exhibition and Prize Draw tickets will cost £2 each.

We also have the artworks shop selling original prints, drawings, paintings, ceramics and glassworks, and a large selection of greetings cards and artists postcards.

The setting for the exhibition is the spectacular late medieval Blackthorpe Barn. Part of the Rougham Estate, it was built in c.1550 as a threshing barn on lands that formerly belonged to the Benedictine abbey at Bury St. Edmunds. It remained in use as such until 1985 when it received a new lease of life as an arts centre.

Every year over 2000 people visit the artworks annual exhibition. Here are just a few of their comments:

‘Eclectic and rewarding mix of East Anglian work’, East Anglian Daily Times
‘Region’s artists show strokes of genius at annual display’, Evening Star

Inspired by Becker art exhibition – new book ‘Blyth Spirit’

This year’s ‘Inspired By Becker‘ art exhibition has an added dimension – a Becker-themed book featuring the work of 28 artists showing at St Peter’s Church, Wenhaston, Suffolk. ‘Blyth Spirit’ has specially written articles on Becker, reproduces several Becker original works, and catalogues more than 70 highly individual pieces from this year’s exhibition.

The 60-page book has been produced by Norfolk-based Mascot Media, which last year published ‘Harry Becker’s Suffolk’, and specialises in helping promote the work of East Anglian artists.
